The region faces serious challenges such as climate change and natural disasters; and under conditions of population growth, urbanization and industrialization efficient environmental policies and programs are required to sustainably manage the natural resources. Objective of the program The Double Degree Master Program (known as ENREM) qualifies young professionals from Latin America and Europe with the necessary skills, tools and methods to evolve and apply integrated solutions for environmental and natural resources management in an international context – especially German-Latin American cooperation – and at the same time provide their work experience and regional knowledge to the mutual learning and intercultural environment. These experts are able to analyze and solve complex environmental problems in their specific socio-cultural and political contexts, given the technical and economic potentials of both regions. Target Group The ENREM approach is for Mexican, German and Latin American participants, however the program is opened for applicants of all nationalities, if the participants are highly motivated to work in an international cooperation with Latin American and fluently speak Spanish and English. Mobility The mobility concept of the program begins with the first year in Mexico, the third semester takes place in Germany and the last semester is exclusively for the development of the master thesis project either in Germany, Mexico or another Latin American Country depending in the thesis topic. In an interdisciplinary learning environment, students diversify their knowledge and build the capacity to think transdisciplinarily and laterally, as well as team and leadership skills, among them intercultural abilities. These competencies shall equip the graduates with the ability to analyze, characterize and solve complex problems of environmental and natural resources management and well as foster sustainable development, all in line with MDGs, the post-2015 development agenda and the emergent SGDs. The core module provide the students with an overview of different challenges relevant to environmental and natural resources management as Problemática y Gestión Ambiental, Desarrollo Sustentable, and some disciplinary and methodological approaches like Ecología, Estadística, Economía Ecológica, and Project and Business Management. The Project Modules (Seminario Multidisciplinario, ProjectIII- Implementation) are team-work and project-based, and require the multi-cultural student groups to elaborate an interdisciplinary and practice-oriented case study. INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT (CEMS MIM) - MASTER OF SCIENCE The CEMS Master's in International Management (CEMS MIM) is a master’s programme in the field of business and management, which is delivered by 30 leading universities from around the world in cooperation with more than 70 multinational corporations and four social partners. The programme’s focus on Applied International Management culminates in a mandatory Business Project and a Case Study Course. The CEMS year, including the CEMS core elements, takes place during the second year of the Cologne master degree and is equivalent to an academic year (CEMS term 1 during the fall and CEMS term 2 during spring term). One of these terms is completed at the home school, the other term at a CEMS school abroad. The master’s thesis is written towards the end of the programme. It is intended to show that the student is capable of conducting academic work on and reflecting on a specific problem related to the subject matter covered on the programme, using the necessary methods and within a specified period. Tuition Fee The University of Cologne does not charge any tuition fee for the CEMS MIM. Students selected for the programme must pay a student registration and handling fee of €100 to CEMS. This fee is due in January and payable directly to CEMS. Students will receive further instructions about the payment method once accepted on the programme. All students accepted on the CEMS MIM at the University of Cologne must pay a social contribution fee of the University of Cologne of approximately 260 EUR each term. This social contribution includes a semester ticket covering public transport in the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
