Applicants without the required mathematical background are advised to undertake special training or programmes prior to their enrolment in the QEM programme. Such training is proposed by the Graduate School of Mathematics of Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne with the collaboration of Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, IMW - Institute of Mathematical Economics of Universität Bielefeld and Università Ca' Foscari Venezia. Mobility Scheme The first year of the programme is focused on core courses in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics and Mathematics (Probability, Statistics and Optimization). The first semester is spent in Paris. To facilitate mobility, the universities of Barcelona, Bielefeld, Paris and Venice offer almost identical courses during the second semester of the first year. The second year of the programme is spent in one of the four universities of the consortium depending on the area of specialisation chosen by the student. The university choice is fixed for each student during the admissions process. Language of Instruction In each university, the language of instruction for the programme is English. An English language proficiency test (such as IELTS or TOEFL) is required in order to be admitted to the programme. Additionally, students shall also undertake courses in the local language and culture of each European country in which they study. THIS PROGRAM IS TAUGHT IN ENGLISH Entry requirements: The Master in Fashion Business welcome graduates, those who have obtained a diploma in private schools at academic level in the fields of Fashion, Communication and Marketing, and young professionals with experience in the field. Methodology and structure: The Master in Fashion Business has as its primary objective the development of skills and occupational skills (creative and communicative) of the participants through a critical, analytical and indirect approach to the fashion system and an experimental teaching method that combines theory and practice. The course includes the study and analysis of cultural, historical and socio-economic elements that define the world of contemporary fashion. The programme is structured to provide opportunities for students to work with Italian fashion brand on real cases, and to investigate, along with designers and professionals in the contemporary fashion system, the knowledge of the entire process of communication industry. Particular attention is given to integrated strategies that increasingly involve the use of new media and social media. The course focuses on the use of digital media and viral communication techniques. Students examine critically the topics of design and management, and how to work in team. The theme of fashion is examined in all its forms: history, communication, marketing, semiotics, visual communication. Particular attention is given to fashion events (exhibitions, fashion shows, events in the showrooms..) and their communication through press office, focusing on the roles of all the professionals involved (PR, stylists and photographers) and their interactions . The concepts are examined and put into practice through classes based on concrete projects and collaborations with companies. The skills acquired by the participants include the organization of events and their effective communication through a strategic approach and detailed critical analysis that can be applied to any project. The Italian system of design is analysed from different points of view: from the visual merchandising, production processes, from business plan to the professional presentation of the product or event to the customer. The programme of visits to major local companies and meetings with managers of the fashion industry, together with the expected theoretical and practical classes, help to get in contact with the real market. The final Project offers the opportunity to develop, with the support of tutors and teachers, students’ project idea. Based on personal interests and aspirations, the students make a project, to be presented at the international exhibition Pitti in Florence. The same project becomes useful in a practical way at the end of the course, along with other projects carried out during the year, as a portfolio for a professional career. [-]

The Erasmus Mundus Master Course in Chemical Innovation and Regulation (EMMC ChIR) is a Joint Master course developed by the Consortium of Universities. These are the University of Algarve, the University of Barcelona, the University of Bologna and Heriot Watt University. The Universities in the Consortium have agreed on the following Quality Policy regarding the EMMC ChIR: The mission of the EMMC ChIR is to provide its students with the all tools and knowledge from the scientific, the regulatory and the economic point of view necessary to manage the risks of chemicals responsibly and to meet responsibilities over chemical legislation worldwide. ChIR stakeholders are any institution or individual concerned with the risks of chemical substances over humans and the environment, namely the European Chemicals Agency, the national chemicals regulation bodies, chemical industry companies, and the public in general. ChIR will continuously update its curriculum and structure looking towards the fulfillment of its stakeholders’ expectations by preparing professionals highly competent to deal with the challenges of chemical innovation and safe regulation of chemical substances. The vision of the EMMC ChIR is to become the reference in Higher Education for the regulation of chemical substances. The EMMC ChIR aspires to be a model of successful European cooperation, promoting scientific research to support regulations on new chemical substances.
