The master’s degree in business engineering, representing 120 credits, provides solid specialist training in management, enabling effective integration into private or public industrial or non-industrial organisations. Profile of the programme The master’s degree in business engineering offers graduates management training that is based on traditional courses (finance, marketing, accounting, law, industrial economics, etc.) but also on specific disciplines that are in high demand in the market, such as the environment, logistics, auditing, entrepreneurship, production management, etc. The curriculum includes: A first year of 60 credits distributed across a common core (human resource management, statistical and econometric methods in management, logistics, financial management, advanced marketing, advanced microeconomics, tax and business law, production management and one of four major options: finance, marketing, auditing and international management). A second year of 60 credits built around a common core of 40 credits (dissertation, internship, strategic management) and a deepening of the major option chosen in the first year of the master’s. Languages are naturally part of the curriculum, and follow the student through to graduation. They are taught in specific language lessons and are used for communication in seminars in English, Dutch or Spanish. The curricula offered by the Warocqué School of Business and Economics have been ISO-certified since 2003. This certification, which is identical to that used in the professional world, involves the various stakeholders in a process leading to continuous improvement in the quality of the education that is provided. This quality approach, with the student at its heart, incorporates support tools such as tutoring, mentoring and remediation, which allow for easier integration into the academic world and improve students’ success rates. Fully involved in the system, the students are regularly consulted in the quest for still higher levels of quality (satisfaction surveys, consultation on exam schedules, academic support, etc.). This approach, unique in higher education in the French Community, has been rewarded more than once with the “Walloon Quality Prize” (2007 and 2009). Profile of the programme The master’s degree in economic and social policy provides advanced training based on solid management fundamentals (economic policy, tax law, public and administrative law, etc.) at both national and European levels, providing a thorough understanding of decision-making, especially in public institutions. The curriculum includes: A first year of 60 credits divided into 20 general education credits (Belgian society and institutions, IPP tax law, internal policy of the European Union, public and administrative law, discrimination analysis), 30 credits in economic and social policy (economic policy, SEC national accounting, sustainable development and production, social economics, social policy and labour economics) and a specialized module of 10 credits (seminars in economic policy and social policy), plus optional language courses. The Computer Science, Management and Engineering course programme responds to two essential requirements of our time: on the one hand, the ever-growing need to computerise businesses, and on the other hand the need to manage activities more and more efficiently. Engineers have natural skills placing them at the forefront of computer science. They also have the ability to make a rational and methodical contribution to business management. Profile of the programme The courses focus on business management: human resources and communication, marketing, financial analysis and economic and financial calculations, managing innovation, team building, etc. management mathematics and operational research: mathematical programming, stochastic models of operational research, decision-making and management support, computer-aided manufacturing, etc. computer science: programming methodology and languages, databases, software engineering, artificial intelligence, system security and administration, etc. Personal assignments play a central part in the students’ training.
