This cycle of studies is based on the development of a diverse set of skills and competencies that permits excellent career opportunities and pursue postgraduate studies. Objectives Innovate through the integration of knowledge about Museology, Museography, Heritage and Information and Comunication Technologies (ICT). Nowadays the ICT is a priority for the European comission and also for each of its state members. The european digital agenda for 2020 and the portuguese digital agenda for 2015 are already defined. One of their main goal is qualifiyng the professionals and citizens with digital competences. The objective of this master is to give digital competences to the cultural sector in order to get new services and new applications to create new ways of interaction and learning. Students are encouraged to analyse the cultural value of the heritage in a multiple perspective of design of spaces and services, conservation and restauration, architectonic and urban intervention, management territory, regional development, and by using and apllying ICT they may promote new interactive experiences and new knowledge for the citizens/ users. Graduation requirements As in Portuguese law, a) and d), nº1, do artº 17º, do DL 74/2006, de 24 de Março: Have a Degree of a first cycle of studies; or Have a relevante scholar, scientific or professional curriculum which has to be recognized by the scientific board of the school where it is to be admited. Learning outcomes Study new museology, design of projects and spaces will give students the ability to understand how to learn new knowledge from the experience and interaction with an art object. Integrate knowledge from the conservation and restauration, from the regional development, from territory management and from the international networks of these previous areas, will give students the ability to look to the heritage as a part in a whole. Analyse and study the use of the Internet as a tool for make business, to learn, to share, to collaborate and to disseminate. All this in a safe and intelligent environment. An holistic and integrated perspective of the scientific areas that are supporting this Master will give students the technical and scientific abilities to solve problems and find new solutions, new services and new applications in a large multidisciplinary context. Continuing Studies The Masters in Museums, Heritage and the Knowledge Society may pursue studies in doctoral programs in Heritage Studies, Museology and Knowledge Society (ICT), and related areas, depending on the specific rules for admission in these programs.
