Master Programme of International Administration and Global Governance prepares students for professional careers in, as well as post-graduate research related to, the field of international affairs.
The programmes aim is to provide the skills and knowledge needed to formulate, analyze and evaluate policy related to long-term political, economic and social development.
Through interdisciplinary coursework, independent research projects and an internship, students gain both theoretical insights as well as the practical skills and knowledge to work in organisations involved in international issues. Coursework in the first semester explores the historical development of the international system, with focus on the relations among international organisations and between international organisations and various state and non-state actors. Students will also explore the primary policy theories in areas such as peace and conflict studies, and economic, social and political development. Why have some policy ideas been embraced and others not? What ramifications have theories of development policy had, and for whom? Understanding how schools of thought develop, gain footing in the international arena and are, or fail to be, implemented at the international, national or local levels sheds light on the factors that enable or limit efforts to effect change in the world.
